Let’s talk autumn shoes!

Shoes! I adore shoes! So I thought I would start my autumn style suggestions with what I like best.
I think shoes are very important and make a huge difference to any outfit. Quality is very important too, having said that, I think that if one wants a pair of fashionable pretty pumps to use for only a season, one could buy something less expensive, as long as it is fun and different. But,the basic black shoe has to be good!

As mentioned before, I don’t really like heels much, that means you are going to find, at least for now, lots of very flat shoes.

I would divide them into three different styles:

1 LOAFERS/SLIP-ONS
2 BALLET PUMPS/BALLERINAS
3 BROGUES

Ok, the first group is what I am really excited about, as it is something new! Well… something which hasn’t been around for a while. I have always liked the “Gucci” loafer a lot and I think the “slipper” looks fun and very chic. I think they are going to be great both with skirts and trousers, although the set of legs need to be quite good…. anyway, keep the skirt quite long and the trousers short.
There are a few pairs which are rather flashy, so be careful! Only to be worn with a very understated outfit.
Here we are:

Next, ballet pumps, although some of the above perhaps could be considered to belong to this group…
I am happy to say ballerinas are going pointy again, which is good news as they make legs look much much longer!

And finally…. some laces. I can’t help it, I have always loved this kind of shoe and I have always had a pair. I generally prefer them with trousers but they are occasionaly nice with skirts too, something not short and tight, perhaps a tartan skirt or knitted dress. I like the chunkier version, not too much though. These too make your legs look thin and long.

I don’t want to talk about boots yet…..
Have fun with your “shoes shopping” and don’t forget to take a pair of socks with you! Speaking of which…. need to think and do some research about those too…
Bye bye.

PYJAMAS & CO

Following yesterday’s reflections I thought I would expand on the subject “night wear”.         White bedroom-1277730108

As already mentioned, my opinion is that one should look nice in all occasions, as a consequence one should invest, not an enormous amount of money though,  in something “decent”  to wear in bed.

Now, we are all different, some of us like to wear as little as possible and pile up on the bed linen, some of us prefer to wear something cosy and warm. Whatever the type NEVER look like

1 a small girl who wears pj’s with bears and similar

2 somebody who is sleeping in a tent at the north pole, see various types of cardigans,  socks etc.

3 a tart

provided you agree with all of the above, here are some of the things I have found:

mix & DON’T match

Unfortunately I have not been able to find one decent
dressing gown, sooo chic to wear on Sunday mornings when you have time to do nothing until lunch and walk around the house still in your pyjamas. ..
Worse comes to the worse I think you could wear a nice long man cardigan, barefoot obviously!

REFLECTIONS….

I was reflecting the other day on the fact that it is very important for women to always look good. What we sometimes forget though is that, in order to feel good about ourselves, we should ALWAYS look good! I don’t intend to put pressure on anyone but a lot of us go to great lengths when preparing to go out for dinner for example and, when at home, walk around the house looking awful….I don’t think that works, I am not saying we should always look perfect but, if one feels good about oneself, doesn’t that help a lot? If you are for example cleaning the house and happen to pass a mirror and you see quite a nice reflection in it, doesn’t that help in the overall self-esteem matter?! So, I reckon there are certain aspects which should always be kept up to scratch.

1 HAIR it doesn’t matter what kind of hair or colour, it should always be tidy and clean, possibly with a nice cut, no overdue dying and right for your age. I think I will come back on this in more depth.

2 MANICURE AND PEDICURE no excuses, your hands should always have a nice manicure, I prefer short nails, I think they look much more elegant. No need for nail polish if you don’t like it or can’t apply it yourself, although one should at least manage off white or similar (gives certainly much more room for mistakes than darker or brighter colours! )

Your feet need the same attention, even if it is winter and you only wear shoes, surely at some point during the day you will have naked feet and you will happen to look at them?! Wouldn’t it be nice to think they look good? During summer nail polish is a must, during winter… well better with than without ( only light colours though) but I think it is ok not to wear it, providing your feet and nails look decent.

3. MAKE UP well…this is difficult… it depends on age, hair, style, too many things! I feel the important thing is NOT OVER DO IT and wear it when you feel you need it in order to look at least healthy perhaps interesting/different/glamorous and so on. Never in bed or at the gym though!!!

Once you are nice and groomed you can start thinking about clothes. …
Whatever the occasion, going out/office etc, staying at home, sports or night wear…. buy good quality, better fewer but good than more but ill-fitting and in cheap materials.
I think I will come back on this too…

End of today’s reflections. …
