A black skirt

P1010784

The black skirt I have in mind isn’t certainly a pencil skirt, no, too wintery, it isn’t a mini, forbidden to anybody older than 25, this is a style which is much more appropriate for any age and for this time of the year (for summer too). It is a specific, very chic, kind of skirt.

Identikit:

1- Full. Lots of fabric. A full pleated skirt or anyway a full-bodied skirt.

2- Length, just under the knee

3- Fabric: beautiful

I have two looks in mind for this skirt, the first one, the more elegant one, requires a white shirt and heels:

Black skirt + white shirt + black heels + pearl necklace

And if you can’t walk in those heels and want a more fitted shirt (which works better if you decide to “lower”yourself), here’s another version

Black skirt + white fitted shirt + black mid- heels + pearl necklace

I like the shirt open at the collar, tucked inside and the sleeves rolled up. I actually have a video for that!! I am not mad, not much anyway, watch it, it’s a great way to roll up sleeves:

Now, here’s the dressed down version:

Black skirt + white t-shirt + black mules

And the one with flats:

Black skirt + white t-shirt + black flat sandalsI hate to say it, but there is a photo of Victoria Beckham in which she is wearing more or less the look I have described. Her skirt is worn lower and she is wearing shoes (which I don’t like). She also has her hair down, I prefer the hair up or short.Loose white shirt + low waist wide skirt

Anyway, here are all the clothes and accessories I have used and some alternatives:

New from COS….

Back from hols and already looking around for something new and exciting…..
I found some interesting and fresh looking clothes, some to wear now and some later on.
First of all, a gorgeous t-shirt, very plain if not for a lovely detail on the back, colours lovely too.

Also like this “little Miss perfect”  white shirt to wear with worn jeans and sandals or perhaps a pencil skirt with ballerinas?

These are kind of mid-season I think. You can wear them now with a shirt, sandals or pumps. Or, you can wear them later on, with a jumper and ankle boots, better with bare legs if you can manage. I think it looks better with heeled boots but I don’t mind flat brogues either.

A pair of trousers which I reckon are an absolute must-have

A woollen dress for those days you either feel you want something comfy or you are feeling fat….but you still want to look classy.

The black longuette

I saw this lady a few days ago, wearing the most sophisticated skirt ever, THE BLACK LONGUETTE!! It was a jersey, very simple longuette. She had matched it with a pair of ballerinas and a white softly cut, longish shirt. She looked so chic!
Now, it does need to be very well cut and the material needs to be good too, otherwise it’s going to look cheep and shapeless. I also think it should be tight but not too much. The length about 10 cm under the knees hugging them a little. I prefer it without opening at the back.
So, I think one must invest money on it, it’s a classic which is going to last anyway. I love it with flats, or, only for evening and special occasions, it can be worn with heels, as long as they are very simple and classy though.

Here are a couple of outfits:

Of course no tights…
