Stains

I am a messy person when I eat. Probably because I can’t do it slowly, too much the enthusiasm for food to be able to do it any other way.

Worse when I have to wait for it. Yesterday morning, I had to go for a blood test and I had to be on an empty stomach! By the time I made it to the bar, I was starving and in desperate need for a coffee. So I did my usual, I devoured a doughnut and gulped down a huge coffee. I was wearing a white shirt. One of my favourite white shirts.

I realised soon after I had stained it, therefore, as soon as I got home, I put it in the washing machine to make sure I got the stain out. I then put it out to dry. All is well that ends well.

No, it didn’t though. When I pick it up, to my horror, I realised that yes, the coffee stain had come out, but, there were some blood stains I hadn’t seen on the sleeve and of course, those, had been nicely fixed on the cotton by my warm wash!!!!!! AHHHHHHH!

That’s when I started my quest for the elimination at all costs of those terrible stains. Wash in w/m with stain remover powder. Still there. Wash in w/m with bleach. Still there. Overnight sleeve in pure bleach. Not there anymore!! Smelt of beach though, so I put it in w/m again, long wash.

Merrely, I went to get my beautiful shirt out and check again  it was back to all white….

The stain has indeed come out…so has the sleeve though! As in, it has disintegrated….AHHHHH! Perhaps a little too much bleach?!

Winter wish list

You all know by now, that is if you have been regularly reading my posts, I love winter and its clothes. So, it goes without saying I have already started looking at new arrivals. One of my favourite brands is COS.

I am looking forward to go to try on the following:

I love boiled wool, the chunky look and the fact the it isn’t flimsy but sits perfectly, even though it’s knitted. The length is very chic.  Not sure about the colour here…I think I would like it in beige but I do need to try it on to see whether such a light colour suits me…also because I really like the next skirt, and this only comes in navy, so, if I were to get them both…

I am in love with this wrap skirt!! The shape, the fabric, the length, the colour! There’s the added bonus of being a little adjustable in the waist area…

Next, trousers:

Again, love the fabric, the shape is really interesting too. Colour is super, just adapts to anything.

The cotton trousers seem ideal for mid season and also look like the shape would adapt to most tops and shoes. Mid season is a difficult time and one doesn’t tend to have many things…The denim trousers would be ideal too, not sure about the high waist though, again, I need to see them on.

Anyway, that’s my wish list for now. I only need to get to the shop to narrow it down.

“All dark” look

I was watching an episode of my current series of choice (I do tend to stick to one and see it through to the end of it), when, as often happens, I got distracted by clothes….

She was wearing an all dark look. The outfit not being special, it was a simple jacket, a shirt, trousers and ballerinas. But that’s not the point. The point was the contrast between the all dark clothes and her blond hair! That looked magnificent!! So, in order to make it work, you need to be blond really…ah ah ah! Perhaps grey hair would make a pass too here.

Here is my proposal:

Some might find it too simple, I simply find it very chic.

All from Massimo Dutti, apart from the shoes.
