A green handbag

A woman needs lots of handbags. This is a fact.

Of course it isn’t possible to buy several per year, at least most of us can’t afford to. I actually think one shouldn’t.
The answer is going for quality and building up your set of bags over the years.
That means starting with the basics, which are usually black and brown, and then adding less sensible colours. Which depends partly on personal style but should also depend on timeless taste.

Having collected several bags over the years I am not really looking at the basic ones anymore. That’s why last week I stopped in front of a green bag!!
Green, I like this colour. My clothes tend to be very simple and the colours aren’t bright at all. That’s where a, not exactly bright but nevertheless a coloured bag, comes in!!
Dark green but even a brighter one, is really quite good with lots of colours if you think about it. It is better worn during winter but not that bad for the summer months either, as long as it isn’t worn with elegant clothes.

Anyway, here is one I find gorgeous:

SALE TIME !!!!!!!

tmp_images(2)-1668037252
It’s sale time, not actually the best of times but nevertheless it is the right moment to buy specific items.
I think one should never go around the shops during this time without having made a list at home. The list should only have:
1 basic
2 classic
3 well made clothes/accessories
For instance: a white shirt, which should be something:
1 you don’t have and you NEED ( the definition of need I agree is very personal. ..)
2 you have something to wear it with ( not perhaps just one item though.. )
3 you wouldn’t normally be able to afford (don’t buy for the “name” only!!!)

By now it is perhaps a bit late to find anything half decent in the shops but, I have noticed there’s still a lot available on-line. The problem with buying on-line though is that you can’t actually try things on and they often look slightly different from the way they actually are.
You might want to consider going to your favourite shops before the sales start and try things on, go home, see which items match your other clothes/are definitely missing in your wardrobe/etc.
then.. comes the first day of the sales you can just walk in and pick up what you have decided to buy. Otherwise, having decided what sizes fit you and what you like/need, you can order it on-line.

here is a possible list:
1 cashmere jumper in navy/grey/black etc. ( certainly not the one with the reindeer on it!!!!)
2 coats and jackets (simple, excellent fabric, cut and colour must be very good quality)
3 jeans (never enough…, navy, dark navy, black, grey…)
4 handbag (anything, as long as good quality but you could possibly throw in one cheap but cheerful small clutch)
5 accessories (lots!, all colours, here too one or two cheap ones are ok)
6 shirts/blouses ( think summer as well)
7 shoes/boots etc. ( be very careful, some of them go out of fashion soooo quickly, if this year they are pointy, the next they will be square!!!!! Well, I don’t actually know but if you stick to classic you can’t go wrong can you?!)

Whatever you do, DON’T buy anything you wouldn’t pay full price for!!!

Good luck.

The missing item. The t-shirt

I don’t know you but I always seem to be out of basic t-shirts. Every season I think “big”, I think about finding the right jacket, trousers, jumper, etc. I spend a long time looking for just the right style/quality/price. I eventually buy these garments and I think I am set to go!
Only I am not…..
See, whatever one decides to wear, there is, almost always, a t-shirt involved or at least this is the case for me!
So, getting back to basic t-shirts, I decided to have a look for myself and stock up on a few basic styles and colours.
When I say basic though I don’t exactly mean a simple round neck short-sleeved cotton t-shirt… here we are speaking about an item which needs to look nice with day clothes NOT gym clothes!
I believe one should have a selection of t-shirts in the colours which are obviously going to go with the rest of their clothes, in a nice fabric, fit and slightly unusual in the cut/style. Therefore, the following tops are intended for use with cardigans/jumpers and jackets, otherwise with clothes that need something very simple e.g. patterned trousers…
Having established that, I can show you what I mean/like/would love to own:

BLACK

WHITE and IVORY

GREY

COLOURS

I was going to put some navy t-shirts too but I haven’t actually found any unfortunately.

Anyway, this is it regarding the subject. Perhaps later on in winter I will have a look at long-sleeved t-shirts too.
