What’s a good wardrobe like?

It is a very difficult answer. I have just read a post on “Matches Fashion’s site (the link was actually on the blog “Keep it Chic”). It’s about two women, Italian women, successful women: Giorgia and Giulia Tordini. I have never heard of Walk-in cupboardthem actually. What I like about the article though is that some of their choices in the “10 rules of style” list, make perfect sense to me.

  1. Invest in classic staples Well, this is really my “bible”. I completely agree.
  2. Find the perfect handbag I also agree with this point fully, I have had handbags for nearly 30 years and I am not throwing them away!
  3. Channel Parisian style Sooner or later I am going to write about this.
  4. Make a statement with accessories I strongly believe in accessories.
  5. Keep your wardrobe organised Another very good point and one I always stand by.

Of course it is not all there.. there’s plenty more to say about the perfect wardrobe. This is only part of it, but some very good points all the same.

Here’s the link if you want to read the full post:

Another post came to mind about building the perfect wardrobe:

I think I will come back with more on this subject in the near future. Bye for now.

Hot hot hot!

Dear me, temperatures are rising and looking stylish is becoming more and more difficult! That is if you are not willing to suffer in order to look good.

So, what’s a girl to do, look awful or find a way to survive both in a stylish and comfy manner? I had a long thought about this and the only solution I can find is a dress.

I have covered several kind of dresses and different colours/patterns too. Now I think is time to speak about the humble but always exquisite SHIFT DRESS. So plain, which is great, because you can adapt it to your daily mood and never goes out of fashion either. The cut needs to be  perfect of course. Fabric too.

Here are a few:

The very basic, classic shift.

With a tiny bit of movement.

DONDUP%0A3:4 length cotton dress white

DONDUP 3/4 length cotton dress white

Not quite a shift dress I suppose, but a more casual version of it.

8 3/4 length dress black/white pattern

This one too is a little different from the basic one but I thought it worth showing…

Next you need to decide what to make of it. How do you feel:

  • playful
  • energetic
  • courageous
  • provocative
  • quiet
  • bright
  • important
  • festive
  • confident
  • daring
  • rebellious
  • dynamic
  • miserable
  • uneasy

The last two I suppose aren’t the best, but we can all feel a bit down now and again and still leave the house and go to work/food shopping/school etc. Now, if even the clothes don’t make a difference, then you can still dress “safe and cuddly” for a day, just to get you through it.  If you feel any worse than what described above, stay at home!!

Here are some suggestions based on the above feelings:

The striped shirt

As every year, around about this time, I am fed up with almost everything trendy and I start looking back at classics.

Striped man's shirt with skirt

The striped shirt is certainly one of them.

DBE striped shirt with jeans

(look at the sandals and then read previous post)

I haven’t owned one for a while but I am starting to fancy it again. Here’s some I have prepared earlier…

By the way, I do think the shirt should be “boyfriend” sizing… although as in all things there are exceptions (see bottom).

Blue is always the best but I quite like these colours too

and this is the intruder…such a nice one though!

I do love it  (it’s almost a stripe, isn’t it?!?)

Striped shirts look nice with ANYTHING. Trousers, jeans, skirts, long, short, tight and wide. Comes winter they will still be nice, perhaps with an ever so classic cashmere sweater on top…
