Longer legs!!

Just had a thought this morning. I decided to wear a dark grey knitted tightish dress and grey ankle boots with a bit of a heel (6 cm). When I came to choose the tights I almost went for a pair of black ones (I tend to reach out to black as a default choice) but changed my mind and wore grey ones instead.

You probably already know why, but I thought I would tell who doesn’t yet:

if you wear the same colour throughout your outfit, or at least the bottom part of it, your legs look much longer because they look as if they continue right down to the floor! Of course a little heel helps too…

Don’t forget, if your legs are chubby,  wear a pair of boots with a wide and thick sole, thick heel and a length slightly above your ankle, so your legs will have a chance to look thinner than your shoes! (the above boots are good too for this though as they don’t cut right around the ankle and are instead cut lower at the front)

Sorry, I wasn’t able to do a terribly good job with the images but I hope you get the idea anyway.

I thought I would point this out because I recently have put on quite a few extra kilos (ahhhhh!!!!) but nobody seems to notice. Even when I say it, they don’t believe me. My conclusion is I must be dressing well, in terms of what suits my present shape obviously!

And if you think the above is good advice, have a look at this post:

Dress over dress

Have you ever thought about wearing two dresses together? I have a couple of dresses which have got sleeves that aren’t quite long enough to keep me warm and also a sleeveless one. I love them. I could just wear a long sleeve t-shirt underneath, or a cardigan on top, but I feel it’s a little boring. That’s when I decided to actually wear one dress on top of another! And boy!! the result was everything but boring!

The other reason to do this is if you want to start wearing something which is too early to wear, as in too summery. Perhaps something bright, or flowery, or really too thin for the weather.

I especially like to see the dress underneath showing at the bottom of the other one. The sleeves and the collar are nice too.

See what you think:

I didn’t quite find what I was looking for, so these ones will have to do. All I wanted, was to give you an idea of what it would look like. You are going to have to try different lengths and shapes together,  just what you already have in your wardrobe though. Good luck!

A grey outfit

Grey…one of my favourite colours. I have this fantastic, very simple yet amazing dress. It’s a sleeveless knitted, round collar dress. I don’t know how they managed but although it’s quite tight and I am certainly not a model (!!!), it makes me look fantastic! The length is just around about my knees and it has a side slit, just one.

Anyway, yesterday  I felt like wearing a bit of an “old fashioned matching outfit”, you know how our Mums did, with dress and jacket/cardigan in the same material… well, my cardigan wasn’t quite the same colour but almost. I than added a pair of burgundy melange tights and a pair of grey heeled ankle boots though, trying NOT to look like my Mum!

Here are a few things I found and put together in order to explain myself better:
