At last, swimwear

I hate neon colours.

I want to be sure you understand that. They look awful on pale skin and worse on tanned skin.

I don’t much like the seaside either. I did go though, for a week. It’s apparently very good for skin problems and I have a son who seems to need it. I am also going soon on an enlarged family holiday, near the seaside. There’s going to be a pool. Last piece of info, it’s so hot I am spending time at a place with lots of pools.

Now, since I love clothes, especially winter ones, it comes really difficult to me talking swimming wear. But I do like to be up to scratch, whatever the occasion. So, it looks like I have to consider it.

I don’t like bright, too busy, too sexy, too revealing, topless, g-strings…

I have a friend, she is a very nice person, only, she wears neon bikinis, matches them with neon flip-flops, and she even manages matching nail polish…. it’s disarming…

SIMPLE. IT’S THE ONLY WAY TO GO. Plain bikinis or an always very chic one-piece. Nicely cut, nice shades. If you can’t refrain from being a bit more “visible”, add some fine jewellery, a hat and a pair of sunglasses, no more. Ah, don’t trot down to the beach wearing cheap flip-flops or worse, heels!!

This colour and style is great, nice both with or without tan:

Dark and loose in the right place is always good:

and the halter neck versions:

Now bikinis. A classic one:

something more trendy, to be used only with a flat tummy, with the addition of a second top, to be used in order to avoid marks:

I can’t even think about wearing clothes these days. The heat is unbearable, has been for a while and is going (apparently) to get worse….Make-up is a definite NO, it would melt. Heels? No way, my feet are a size bigger, just flat sandals and VERY open. No jewellery, makes me too hot too. signs_symptoms_of_heat_stroke_how_to_treatSo, unless I want to walk around in knickers, I suppose I must wear something. I think it’s going to be a bikini and since I don’t want to talk bikinis, I only have sunglasses left! There’s nothing else one wears with a swimming costume, is there?!

A very long introduction I suppose…nevertheless, one I had to do, in order to explain why I am going to speak about sunglasses!!!!

I have a thing for pinkish/beige/neutral “shades” right now. Actually, I started thinking about them last year, after I saw a friend of mine wearing them and thought they are very kind on complexion. They are also feminine, gentle, chic, understated. I guess I am over the black, hard looking type of glasses.

But, If you really want to play the celebrity/mysterious woman, or you simply have one of those days you want to hide from the world, here are some chic black pairs:

Otherwise, a pair of grey ones are a good medium between the two:

And finally, if you want a pair of fun shades, inexpensive, you are just going to wear twice (mind your eyes!), here they are:

What’s a good wardrobe like?

It is a very difficult answer. I have just read a post on “Matches Fashion’s site (the link was actually on the blog “Keep it Chic”). It’s about two women, Italian women, successful women: Giorgia and Giulia Tordini. I have never heard of Walk-in cupboardthem actually. What I like about the article though is that some of their choices in the “10 rules of style” list, make perfect sense to me.

  1. Invest in classic staples Well, this is really my “bible”. I completely agree.
  2. Find the perfect handbag I also agree with this point fully, I have had handbags for nearly 30 years and I am not throwing them away!
  3. Channel Parisian style Sooner or later I am going to write about this.
  4. Make a statement with accessories I strongly believe in accessories.
  5. Keep your wardrobe organised Another very good point and one I always stand by.

Of course it is not all there.. there’s plenty more to say about the perfect wardrobe. This is only part of it, but some very good points all the same.

Here’s the link if you want to read the full post:

Another post came to mind about building the perfect wardrobe:

I think I will come back with more on this subject in the near future. Bye for now.
