Flat mules are back. More specifically in the form of Moroccan pointed slippers, called Babouche. I would really like a pair, hard to find though. The fashion magazines say flat mules are “a must” this summer, only the shops don’t seem to have caught up with this trend, I can’t find much at all…. It seems that high-end brands have done some but the more affordable ones haven’t. Has anybody seen any? Where? I am often ahead on times looking for shoes, it’s possible this trend will not catch on or it will be big next year. My problem is, when they eventually are available everywhere I have usually moved on and unfortunately I can’t afford the Designer’s price tags… Perhaps it’s a bit early in the season, let’s hope so, or perhaps the magazines are wrong!
I have found a couple of sites which actually sell the original Moroccan slipper, only to find out they only have it in big sizes, so, if you are a 6.5 upwards you are ok, otherwise “tough”! That’s because they are men’s sizes. Anyway, I am not sure they can actually be worn out…
Here they are:

Anyway, I love flat mules and if I can just find them, I am even tempted to buy both the “Babouche” kind and the open shoe one. The first one to wear mainly with relaxed looking trousers and long dresses, the second when I am a bit more “put together”!
I would love to have this:
but it’s definitely out of my reach and if I could buy a pair of Gucci shoes I would buy the whole shoe (the loafer) anyway.
But this is not a bad substitute and it also comes in silver:
- TOPSHOP KOLA Mule Loafer black
- TOPSHOP KOLA Mule Loafers silver
I really like these ones too:
