Hot hot hot!

Dear me, temperatures are rising and looking stylish is becoming more and more difficult! That is if you are not willing to suffer in order to look good.

So, what’s a girl to do, look awful or find a way to survive both in a stylish and comfy manner? I had a long thought about this and the only solution I can find is a dress.

I have covered several kind of dresses and different colours/patterns too. Now I think is time to speak about the humble but always exquisite SHIFT DRESS. So plain, which is great, because you can adapt it to your daily mood and never goes out of fashion either. The cut needs to be  perfect of course. Fabric too.

Here are a few:

The very basic, classic shift.

With a tiny bit of movement.

DONDUP%0A3:4 length cotton dress white

DONDUP 3/4 length cotton dress white

Not quite a shift dress I suppose, but a more casual version of it.

8 3/4 length dress black/white pattern

This one too is a little different from the basic one but I thought it worth showing…

Next you need to decide what to make of it. How do you feel:

  • playful
  • energetic
  • courageous
  • provocative
  • quiet
  • bright
  • important
  • festive
  • confident
  • daring
  • rebellious
  • dynamic
  • miserable
  • uneasy

The last two I suppose aren’t the best, but we can all feel a bit down now and again and still leave the house and go to work/food shopping/school etc. Now, if even the clothes don’t make a difference, then you can still dress “safe and cuddly” for a day, just to get you through it.  If you feel any worse than what described above, stay at home!!

Here are some suggestions based on the above feelings:

The white summer dress

While we all have at least one black dress for the summer, some of us only, have a white dress as well. I must admit not having one myself… in fact, I haven’t felt the need for many years . Until now of course! Otherwise I wouldn’t be writing about it…

So, here are white dresses, divided into categories (I am an organised person… bordering worrying…)

First of all, the ones I LOVE:

Now the others…

Simple:

I would wear the simple white dress with either, flats: lace-up sandals, ” man’s like” sandals or unusual ones. I would avoid heels with the long dress.Ffor the others: a bright pair, a simple one or the exact opposite, a very “loud” one! Anyway, black is boring…

Lace:

Gorgeous with the right shoe, potentially a disaster with the wrong one. Lace is already “busy”, feminine, “wedding like”, there is no need to add! Extremely simple, plain, chic, and not bright, will do. I do like black in this case. No jewellery or very delicate pieces, simple hair, preferably up if long. At least this is what I think.

Sexy:

As above, don’t overdo it with the shoes…perhaps something quite sporty for the day and very simple heels for night-time?

A touch of colour:

The first one, strong personalities only, the second one needs a very trendy heel…

Cut-outs & co.

Shoes: same as lace

Ladylike

Accessories and fit are everything…

White and black (couldn’t resist it!)

COS CONTRAST SHIRT DRESS white&black

As it is…

Long ones:

Barefoot? Beach-party?

H&M lace-up sandals burgundy

or the same lace-up sandals I am obsessed with…

No jewellery.

Last, very casual

Tunic + shorts + flats

Zara top and matching High waist printed shorts

Zara top and matching High waist printed shorts

I read a post yesterday on “Keep it chic” about shorts. While I don’t love shorts that much, mainly because one has to have legs worth showing and that’s not for everybody, I like her idea of wearing them with a tunic and flats. I think it could be nice, in the right environment, like a seaside resort or similar, for example.

The tunic can be hip length if your legs are good enough, but it can also be long and open at the front.

I thought perhaps a little denim would be nice too:
